I started dancing when I was in primary school. Then, I continue dancing in secondary school. I'm very active in dancing at that time. I went to competition until state level even in Matriculation also I'm involved in dancing. Now, I'm one of UTM dancer. I love dancing because it is such a great way to exercise and be able to express my feelings and emotions through a form of art. Dancing is a huge part of my life, I am not sure what would I do without it. I've learned teamwork as well as leadership, and for countless numbers of hours I have spent my days to practicing. Dance is more than just a sport, it's a passion. It is something I work hard for, something I put all of my spare time and effort into. Some people disagree when I said dance is a sport, but actually it is a sport. Sports require pushing your physical body to reach it's maximum performance level. Sports that need a lot of stamina.

Task 6
1. What has been the most difficult part adjusting to university life? What are your favorite things about UTM?
In my opinion, the most difficult part adjusting to university life is when the first time I'm entering University. At that time I have no friends at all. For a few months, I do things alone and I'm still trying to adapt with the new situation. I can't depends on other. For the first time, I have to stay away from my family and I always get homesick. Almost every night, I called my parents and told them about my daily activities in University. That was an unforgettable experience I've ever had. I like UTM for many reasons. UTM is having a bigger campus than UITM (Shah alam). All the facilities here are complete. As we know UTM is a top Research University in Malaysia. The staff here in UTM are professional and really friendly. I am proud to be one of UTM students. Im looking forward to many experience here in another 4 years! :)

TASK 4
1. What is your favorite part about Malaysian Culture? How would you describe Malaysia to someone who has never been here?
My favorite part about Malaysian culture is in their society here is Malay culture, Chinese culture, and Indian culture along with the cultures of the indigenous groups of the peninsula and north Borneo. We are unite in one country called Malaysia. In fact, it is this diversity that it is afforded by the various races in this country that make "Malaysia Truly Asia". The individuality of the various races and fusion of the cultures truly blend well to produce something exotic and magical that cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
Malaysia, apart from being truly an Asian country, has something for everybody. They have the whole of Peninsula Malaysia to explore. For the nature lovers and the outdoor adventurer, there is Borneo Island, where the states of Sabah and Sarawak are located. One of the Malay words, that a visitor to Malaysia will hear most, is the phrase "Selamat Datang". In English, it means "Welcome"
Malaysia's capital city is Kuala Lumpur. As the Petronas Twin Towers is a landmark in Kuala Lumpur, getting to this place is quite easy. Kuala Lumpur has so many shopping complex and so many buildings. Malaysia also has beautiful islands and beaches. For example, Sipadan Island, Langkawi Island, Pulau Perhentian and many more.

TASK 2
1. What is important to you?
The most important to me is my family. They are very important to me because without them I am no one. They are my supporter. They will always be there whenever I need someone to talk to or when I need a shoulder to cry on. I will make them as my priority and I promise to myself that I will take care of them until my last breathe. Next, things that is important to me is my future. I am very concern about my future and who I am going to be in the next 5 years. I have to work really hard to get what I want in life. Besides that, happiness is also important to me because happiness is a clue to how I am supposed to be living. Happiness will make me feel better
2. What is one issue in current events or social justice that you care about deeply? Why?
One issue in current events that I care about deeply is unemployment among Malaysia graduates. Unemployment in Malaysia is becoming increasingly serious. Every year many students have graduated from institutions of higher learning either in public or private institutions. A lot of competition for jobs in causing high unemployment. I really care about this issue because in 4 years time I will be graduate and of course I want to get a job. Nowadays, the employer will find the worker who had a lot of experienced compared to the one without experience. Lack of experience and skills are also causes of graduate unemployment. The employer wants to have workers which are good in social and communication skills. That is why UTM are very concern about these skills. They want students to be able to communicate with public confidently besides getting a good result.

TASK 1
1. Tell me (and the rest of the class) about yourself! What are some interesting things about you? What makes you different?
My name is Liyana Binti Izam. Im from Klang, Selangor. I'm the eldest from 5 siblings. I am a person who is positive about every aspect of life. I like to motivate myself whenever I feel down. There are many things I like to do, see and experience. Travelling and shopping is my hobby. Dancing is my passion. I do not try to be better than anyone else, but I try to be better than myself! Some interesting things about me is I am a person who is easy going. I'm friendly and I love make a new friends. I am just a normal person with many flaws and imperfections :)
2. In what ways, have you used English in the past? How will you use it in the future? What is your motivation for learning English?
I usually used English in social media. I communicate with my friends in social media using English. For example, Twitter, Instagram and even in Whatsapp. I tweet about my daily routine in English. I also post my status at Facebook in English but I rarely use English to communicate with people in real life because I don't have any confidence when talking with people in English. I have the ambition to further my studies in overseas. So, I find that English is very useful for me to communicate with the people in overseas and also to get a job in the future. My motivation for learning English is to be able to speak in front of the public confidently and fluently.
3. If you could travel to any country (without worrying about a cost, a language barrier or anything else, where would you go? How? What would you do?
I would like to visit England. I would like to learn everything about England from its beautiful landscapes and historic World Heritage Sites to its vibrant and cosmopolitan cities. I would specifically go to London. London is huge, fast-paced and packed with things I've been told not to miss. It's a great city I guess but it can be hard for me as a first-time visitor to know where to start. Of course I'm going to shopping at London because shopping in London is surely the best in the world with something to suit every budget and style. Oxford Street is the obvious place I would like to go. Besides that, I'm looking forward to visit British Museum, Tower of London, Hyde Park and many more.
